Baby Product Overload!

I need help! Dave and I are trying to be smart as we buy all of the things that we are going to need for our baby, but wow, it is so overwhelming! There are so many products out there! I would love any advice you can give me on items that you loved and couldn't live without, and also items that I should avoid.

I especially need help with a stroller/car seat. There are so many options out there, ranging from $150 - $800; if you have one that you love, would you please let me know?

We are planning on registering soon, and any help you could give me on this would really be appreciated.

When looking for a car seat, we looked mostly at safety ratings - that is really the most important thing. We debated on a Britax and ended up getting a Graco (same safety ratings, less money).

We bought the matching stroller. It is huge and takes up our whole trunk. I hate that part but BG loves it. We also have a little umbrella stroller, but she won't sit in it for more than an hour. She'll stay in the big one much longer - more comfy.

We borrowed a lot of the bigger baby stuff that you don't use for long, like a swing, exosaucer, etc. In Utah, you can always find someone with those things!

We did the graco travel system too, and although the stroller is big, like Jessica said, it is definitely worth it when you do use it. I also agree with the bigger baby stuff that you can borrow...especially because you never know if the baby is going to like the swing (side to side or forward to back) or the bouncer more and you don't want to waste your money on things the baby is not interested in. A lot of people let me "test drive" some of their bigger baby items before we bought them. Baby center.com has a really great thread on this same thing if you can find it. Also, the baby Bjorn's are sensational!! Jocelyn wouldn't go in a sling, but she loved loved the baby Bjorn especially when she got older because she could see out and you don't have to try to get a stroller in tight places when you go somewhere. I always put her in the baby Bjorn when I go to Gardner Village for instance...
oh, and a swaddler was a must for us because she was a little Houdini and could get out of any blanket swaddle no matter how well done. But again, it's dependent upon the baby.

Cute baby bag is essential (though the more superficial of recommendations given here).

Stop buying until after your baby shower...I have never been pregnant, but that was advice given to Rebecca.
